Central Park

Hi. My name is Jose Rosamilton de Lima. I live in a small city in the Brazilian Northest. It is wonderful participate of this important program BETUSA. In this first week here I already learn several things about the American history and culture. I am perceiving that American people is polite, organized and responsible.  I loved the Central Park because it is a place where the people go to relax, do exercises, running, walk, skating, ridding bike, etc. There are some beautiful lakes. In the moment the tree is similar the vegetation of my city because down the leaves, but the is an interisting fenomenon that occurs in the winter, on contrary what occurs in Brazilian Northest that leaves of tree fall down in the Summer. Besides, it has diverses cultural atractions.

Hi, my name´s Lúcia  and from Paraná, south of Brazil. First of all I would like to thank everybody that is involved in this program that is given us a chance of improving our language. I'm sure it is gonna be an unforgatable experience  because it is a dream that is becoming true. Everything here is perfect: the campus, the lessons, our professors (are excellent ) and the city is wonderful. I'm enjoying everything.

Survivor tree

I think the most impressive that I've had when I arrived here it was when we visited the memorial  9/11. it seemed so sad but at the same time it is a wonderful place to visit it. There was a  tree there called "survivor tree" because after attacks of 9/11 this tree was found badly burned, and it had only one living branch. it shows that always there would be hope even when there is death.

       I'm Maria Valdeci dos Santos and I'm from Aracaju, Sergipe, Brasil. I'm glad to be a BETUSA pogram participant. I know I have to work hard to improve my English skills and I will do my best. I will take this  opportunity to learn about the US and Americans way of living without Media influence.

     I hope everything I will learn here it will be useful to me in any way: to make my English classes more attractive or to make my job easier to manage or both. I'm very excited and I hope Brazilian Government continue this program because it will strongly improve our teachers proficiency level.

my experience

I am Valeria and from Parnamirim ( it means small river in indian language) in RN . I think It was one of the best experience that God has given to me. My dream was to know The United States ,the local cultural , to talk to people and improve my English .Now I see my dream comes true. Everything  is almost perfect . Clean streets, well organized stores and supermarkets , polite people , wonderful sightseeing ,interesting classes,  etc. But unfurtunatelly I didn't find a church to pray for Jesus to has brought me here.

Hi, everyone. I´m Emílio Augusto. I´m from Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, a city in the northeast of Brazil. This i my first time abroad. At my first walk I took the subway at Cortland street station to uptown. I went until Forest street station. So I took another one to Coney island station. A thing that called my attention was to see many people in the trains doing something to earn money, such as singing, playing some instruments, dancing, and so on. As it was my first time in the city, I was a little confused for what side of had to go or which train should I must take to come back to St John´s campus. Then I took many different ways, but with a map in my hands I could find the correct one. My first impression was that I could be lost in New York, because it´s a big city. With the help of a map and using the subway, to anywhere is easy. I hope to know it better as much as possible and I hope to see snow until I will leave this country.
